Joan Erzer BehrensJoan Erzer Behrens, a native of Erie, Pennsylvania, received a Bachelor of Science degree from Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois. While working in Chicago, she also took masters level courses at Northwestern. A resident of Palos Verdes for over 30 years, Mrs. Behrens has been a private tutor for over 15 years, teaching on an individual basis as well as in small group settings. She has traveled extensively in the United States, Europe, China, the Middle East, and Africa, focusing on historical and cultural sites. A life-long learner, she frequently participates in educational seminars and university courses.

Joan holds the graduate-level Certificate of College Admissions Counseling from the University of California, Los Angeles. She regularly researches and visits large universities, mid-sized colleges and universities, and small liberal arts colleges in all areas of the United States.

Joan is involved in a number of community endeavors including the Palos Verdes Peninsula Rotary Club, the Palos Verdes Educator of the Year Dinner, the Palos Verdes Art Center, the scholarship program of the San Pedro Boys & Girls Club, the Dawn Unity interfaith program, and her local church affiliation. She is also a member of the Northwestern University Alumni Admissions Council and participates each year in interviewing prospective students. Joan's family includes four daughters (all college graduates) and twelve grandchildren.
